Ending the Era of the Outdated Suralaya Power Plant: Indonesia's Commitment Towards a Just Energy Transition

The climate crisis is urgently increasing, prompting developed countries that are members of the International Partners Group (IPG) to form energy transition partnerships or the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP). This partnership aims to accelerate the energy transition process towards clean energy in the electricity sector. JETP Indonesia aims to limit emissions of 290 million tons of CO2eq for the electricity sector and accelerate the use of new renewable energy (EBT) so that the new renewable energy mix is at least 34% of total electricity generation in 2030. JETP focuses on five Investment Focus Areas (IFA) or investment areas, namely electricity networks and transmission, early retirement of coal power plants, dispatchable EBT acceleration, and strengthening the EBT supply chain.
